The 24th Frontier Forum for Digital Technology and Finance was Successfully Held

On December 4, 2023, at 10:00 am, the 24th Forum on Digital Technology and Economic Finance Frontiers was successfully held. The theme of this lecture was "Managing a bankruptcy protection application with the aid of Parasian or Parisian options", and the guest speaker was Professor Song-Ping Zhu from the University of Wollongong, Australia. The lecture was chaired by Xianming Sun, Associate Professor of the Finance School and executive Deputy Director of the Innovation and Talent Base for Digital Technology and Finance. Lv Yongbin, deputy director of the Base, and researchers and graduate students from the School of Finance attended the lecture.
At the beginning of the lecture, Associate Professor Xianming Sun briefly introduced relevant information of Professor Song-Ping Zhu to the participants and expressed his sincere gratitude for his availability to give a lecture at our college despite his busy schedule.

During the lecture, Professor Song-Ping Zhu took the example of the event of "China Evergrande Group filing for bankruptcy protection in New York, USA" to explain in detail how to properly manage a bankruptcy protection application with an opt-out option.

Finally, the participants had active academic exchanges with Professor Song-Ping Zhu, and jointly conducted academic discussions on the theme of the lecture. Professor Song-Ping Zhu provided detailed answers to the questions and puzzles of the teachers and students. Associate Professor Xianming Sun expressed his gratitude to Professor Song-Ping Zhu for his speech, and the forum came to a successful conclusion.

 

Speaker Introduction

Dr. Song-Ping Zhu is a Senior Professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of Wollongong, Australia. He graduated from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, Michigan, U.S.A.) with a PhD degree in December 1987. Having published over 200 papers in international journals and conference proceedings and attracted over $2M funding supports from ARC (Australian Research Council) and private industries, his research work has been recognized both nationally and internationally (ISI Web of Science shows that his total citation number is over 2000 with an H-Index of 27). In his entire teaching and research career, he has successfully supervised many PhD students and postdocs. He has also organized two international conferences as well as being invited speakers at several international conferences.

 

Frontier Forum for Digital Technology and Finance introduction

Recent years have witnessed a dramatic acceleration in a digital revolution in economic sectors and a rapid adoption of the new generation of information technologies, such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, cloud computing, big data, etc. These technologies effectively set off the digital economy. It has become a key driving force in creating global economic growth, improving the modernization level of governance capabilities, and promoting high-quality economic development in China. In particular, digital finance is the most important part of the digital economy. To explore the development direction of the cross-integration of digital technology and finance, the Innovation and Talent Base for Digital Technology and Finance is hosting the “Frontier Forum for Digital Technology and Finance”, in collaboration with the School of Finance, Wenlan School of Business, Economics School, School of Information and Safety Engineering, School of Statistics and Mathematics, School of Public Finance and Taxation of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL). This lecture series will invite the well-known scholars at home and abroad in digital technology, digital economy, digital finance, and other related fields as guest speakers, providing an open and cutting-edge academic exchange platform for interdisciplinary research on digital technology and finance.
