Introduction of the Base

The Innovation and Talent Base for Digital Technology and Finance (hereinafter referred to as the “Finance 111 Base”) is a research institute approved by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China in 2021. It is a national scientific research platform for applied economics at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. In the new era of rapid development of the digital economy, the Finance 111 Base targets on cutting-edge topics on the major practical demands of China's economic and social development, gathers outstanding researchers in the field of digital economy at home and abroad, explores the interdisciplinary theory and applications in the digital technology and finance, and builds into a financial research platform with a high international reputation.

The Finance 111 Base has an international interdisciplinary research team with deep academic background and broad vision, including more than 40 professors/researchers that including top scholars in the field of economics and finance from prestigious universities such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, Nankai University, Xiamen University, University of Hong Kong, University of Florida and Macquarie University. The Base has established six research teams focusing on six areas in depth: Blockchain and Digital Currency, Digital Technology and Financial Inclusion, Big Data and Credit Systems, Artificial Intelligence and Financial Risk Management, Information Technology and Financial Information Security, and Financial Technology and Financial Regulatory Technology, to carry out activities such as scientific research, talent training, social services, international cooperation, etc.

Since its establishment in 2021, the research team has been selected for 1 National Major Talent Program of the Ministry of Education and published more than 50 papers in authoritative journals at home and abroad, such as the Economic Research Journal, Management World, Journal of Financial Research, China Economic Quarterly, the Journal of World Economy, Management Science, Journal of Econometrics, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Journal of Corporate Finance, etc.; published 2 important development reports such as the “China Financial Development Report”; published 3 academic monographs; was awarded a number of national research projects. In the meantime, the research results of the Base have won many provincial and ministerial awards, such as the First Prize of Hubei Province Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award, and several research reports have been adopted by national and provincial leaders. Additionally, the Base has hosted important academic conferences such as the China FinTech Annual Conference, achieving high academic influence, policy influence, and social influence.
