The 23rd Frontier Forum for Digital Technology and Finance was Successfully Held

On December 1, 2023, at 3:00 pm, the 23rd Forum on Digital Technology and Economic Finance Frontiers was successfully held.  The theme of the lecture was "Relationship between FinTech and Financial Engineering", and the keynote speaker was Professor Longsen Ye from Zhuhai College of Beijing Institute of Technology. The lecture was hosted by Professor Qinghua Song from the Innovation and Talent Base for Digital Technology and Finance, and the graduate students from the School of Finance and researchers from the Base attended the lecture.

At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Song Qinghua briefly introduced Professor Ye Longsen's relevant information to the participants and expressed his sincere gratitude for his ability to conduct a lecture for our college despite his busy schedule.

During the lecture, Professor Longsen Ye introduced the relationship between FinTech and Financial Engineering, and provided a detailed list of the top ten US-based FinTech companies.

Finally, the participants actively engaged in academic exchanges with Professor Longsen Ye, jointly discussing the theme of the lecture. Professor Longsen Ye provided thoughtful and detailed answers to the questions and concerns raised by the teachers and students. Professor Qinghua Song expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Professor Longsen Ye for his exceptional speech, and the forum came to a conclusion with great success.


Speaker Introduction

Longsen Ye holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Peking University, a master's degree in engineering from Beijing Institute of Technology, a master's degree in mathematics from York University, and a doctorate in finance from Queen's University. He obtained the certification of Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) in 2006. He has taught at Sobey School of Business, Saint Mary's University for 18 years, and served as a tenured professor of finance. He has served as the dean of the School of Accounting and Finance of Zhuhai College of Beijing Institute of Technology, the dean of the International College of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, a part-time professor of the Graduate School of the People's Bank of China, a visiting professor of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, a "Ziqiang Scholar" of Shanghai University, and a senior trainer of Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP). His research areas include financial risk management, financial derivatives, stock investment, and other financial fields as well as international education research. He has published more than 20 academic papers in many academic journals and international academic conference proceedings, made academic presentations at dozens of international academic conferences, and served as chairman or sub-committee chairman of several international academic conferences. He has been invited to give lectures at financial institutions such as the People's Bank of China, futures exchanges, and securities companies dozens of times. He has rich teaching experience and teaches financial derivatives, financial engineering, risk management, securities investment, etc. to graduate and undergraduate students. He has guided more than 70 graduate student papers. In recent years, he has been committed to the exploration of financial technology (FinTech), founded the Institute of Intelligent Investment, and served as chairman.


Frontier Forum for Digital Technology and Finance introduction

Recent years have witnessed a dramatic acceleration in a digital revolution in economic sectors and a rapid adoption of the new generation of information technologies, such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, cloud computing, big data, etc. These technologies effectively set off the digital economy. It has become a key driving force in creating global economic growth, improving the modernization level of governance capabilities, and promoting high-quality economic development in China. In particular, digital finance is the most important part of the digital economy. To explore the development direction of the cross-integration of digital technology and finance, the Innovation and Talent Base for Digital Technology and Finance is hosting the “Frontier Forum for Digital Technology and Finance”, in collaboration with the School of Finance, Wenlan School of Business, Economics School, School of Information and Safety Engineering, School of Statistics and Mathematics, School of Public Finance and Taxation of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL). This lecture series will invite the well-known scholars at home and abroad in digital technology, digital economy, digital finance, and other related fields as guest speakers, providing an open and cutting-edge academic exchange platform for interdisciplinary research on digital technology and finance.
