On the morning of May 13, 2022, the eighth Frontier Forum for Digital Technology and Finance, jointly sponsored by the Innovation and Talent Base for Digital Technology and Finance, the School of Finance, and the Collaborative Faculties, was successfully held online. Professor Jiye Mao, former Dean of the Business School, Renmin University of China, was invited to give a lecture on the theme of "Digital Transformation and Supply Chain Finance". Professor Dawei Jin, Dean of the School of Information and Safety Engineering, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, and Co-Director of the Innovation and Talent Base for Digital Technology and Finance hosted the forum. The researchers of the base, the master's and doctoral students across China attended the forum.
At the beginning of the lecture, Professor David Jin introduced Professor Mao to the participants and expressed his sincere gratitude to him.
Starting with a case, Professor Mao vividly showed that digital transformation was related to the digitization of data acquisition, storage, dissemination, and processing methods. It has reconstructed business and organization with emerging digital technologies so that all businesses are tackled online and data-based and all data are business-oriented.
Subsequently, Professor Mao introduced the digital transformation of "JALA" and the concept of "one plate of goods", which is to re-integrate the sales channels, store and manage goods sold online and offline centrally, and distribute them uniformly.
Then, Professor Mao shared the characteristics and advantages of supply chain finance based on blockchain. He explained how could supply chain finance improve the efficiency of marketing and why it plays a pivotal role in ordinary life.
At the end of the meeting, the participants and Professor Mao communicated actively. Professor Dawei Jin once again thanked Professor Mao for his wonderful sharing.
Speaker Introduction
Jiye Mao, professor of the Business school of Renmin University of China, director of the academic committee, former dean; winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars; member of the Management Department of the Science and Technology Commission of the Ministry of Education; highly cited scholar in China (Elsevier list 2015-2018); Former chairman of the China branch of the International Society of Information Systems; winner of the 5th Beijing Higher Education Teacher Award. His main research areas are digital transformation and organizational restructuring of traditional enterprises, especially transformation paths and methods, digital innovation and entrepreneurship. He has published many papers in international and domestic first-class management journals, including Management World, Nankai Management Review, JIBS, JOM, JSIS, JMIS, JAIS, etc. He has obtained undergraduate, MBA and Ph.D. degrees from Renmin University of China, McGill University and British Columbia University, respectively, and taught at Waterloo University and was awarded tenure (1995-2002).
Frontier Forum for Digital Technology and Finance
Recent years have witnessed a dramatic acceleration in a digital revolution in economic sectors and a rapid adoption of the new generation of information technologies, such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, cloud computing, big data, etc. These technologies effectively set off the digital economy. It has become a key driving force in creating global economic growth, improving the modernization level of governance capabilities, and promoting high-quality economic development in China. In particular, digital finance is the most important part of the digital economy. To explore the development direction of the cross-integration of digital technology and finance, the Innovation and Talent Base for Digital Technology and Finance is hosting the “Frontier Forum for Digital Technology and Finance”, in collaboration with the School of Finance, Wenlan School of Business, Economics School, School of Information and Safety Engineering, School of Statistics and Mathematics, School of Public Finance and Taxation of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL). This lecture series will invite the well-known scholars at home and abroad in digital technology, digital economy, digital finance, and other related fields as guest speakers, providing an open and cutting-edge academic exchange platform for interdisciplinary research on digital technology and finance.
