The tenth Frontier Forum for Digital Technology and Finance, sponsored by the Innovation and Talent Base for Digital Technology and Finance, was convened successfully online on May 30, 2022. This forum invited Professor Desheng Wu from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences to give a lecture on the theme of "Online Fake Review Detection: Features, Modeling, Challenges and Opportunities". The lecture was presided over by Professor Dawei Jin, Dean of the School of Information and Safety Engineering of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Co-Director of the Base.

First of all, Professor Desheng Wu cited several examples to introduce to us what kind of reviews are fake reviews, and based on this, he led to the core point of this lecture, that is, what are the specific characteristics of fake reviews? What does a reliable FRD model look like? How does it perform? 

Secondly, Professor Wu showed us his research methods and research steps. First, a brief analysis of fake reviews is conducted through literature research and questionnaires. Then, modeling is carried out by combining the analysis results and related theoretical results. In the lecture, Professor Wu explained in detail the entire operation process of the monitoring model, as well as three ranking methods for selecting fake reviews, and explained the principle and process combined with experimental cases.

Then, Professor Wu gave a brief summary and overview of the content of this lecture.

During the question-and-answer session, the participants asked questions about the parts they were interested in. Professor Wu answered them patiently and meticulously. Finally, the host concluded the lecture and thanked Professor Wu for his wonderful sharing. The tenth Frontier Forum for Digital Technology and Finance has ended successfully.

Speaker Introduction

Desheng Wu, professor and doctoral supervisor of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, academician of the European Academy of Sciences, academician of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, academician of the Eurasian Academy of Sciences, winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. He has published more than 100 SCI-indexed papers in international mainstream academic journals such as POM, JMIS, and IEEE TKDEDSJ, ranking first in the 2019 Elsevier China Highly Cited Scholars in Economics, Econometrics and Finance. Selected into the National Thousand Young Talents Program, the Chinese Academy of Sciences Hundred Talents Program, and the Leading Talents of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has won the China Youth Science and Technology Award, the Chinese Academy of Sciences Young Scientist Award, and other honorary awards.
