Abstract:

In this lecture, we will explore the long-term development trends of China's Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), the short-term challenges it currently faces, and the corresponding policy choices. Firstly, looking at the long-term trends, China has become one of the world's largest recipients of FDI, attracting a significant amount of investment from multinational corporations. This is due to its vast market size, abundant human resources, and the gradual improvement of its investment environment. Additionally, the Chinese government's efforts in promoting innovation, technological upgrades, and industrial structure transformation have attracted more high-quality foreign capital. Secondly, short-term issues mainly include global economic fluctuations, geopolitical tensions, and intensifying competition in the domestic market. These factors may lead to increased uncertainty in foreign capital inflows, affecting the investment decisions of foreign investors. Lastly, in response to these challenges, policy choices are particularly crucial. We will discuss how China can optimize the business environment while attracting foreign investment, promote trade liberalization, and enhance the stability and sustainability of foreign capital through regional cooperation. Through the above analysis, we look forward to discussing China's role in the global investment landscape and its future development path with you.
